Jonathan Smith flags down a passing truck and asks for a ride from the old man driving. The man refuses and drives on, only to have his truck engine blow before he gets more than a few yards down the road. Jonathan obligingly does a little quick mechanic work on the vehicle and tells him to have a nice day. The man hastily changes his mind and offers a ride. With this scene, the theme of the entire series is set into motion. Stangers help strangers, people do good for one another, the forgotten and lonely are given a new purpose in life, and the world becomes just a little bit better place.

The Banker & The Bum

Laurie soon tells Mark and Jonathan that she never wanted to be the star of the show. She does not want all of the attention she just wants to act and let someone else be in the spotlight.

Thoroughbreds (Pt. 1)

2010-09-10 at 12:00PM et/9:00AM ptHelen Hunt guest stars. Jonathan and Mark reunite old childhood friends Lizzy MacGill and Garth Armstrong. Garth is supposed to be marrying Elaine, but he realizes it is only because of his father's desire to be wealthy. Garth and Lizzy compete in a horse riding competition and end up falling in love with each other. Garth asks Lizzy to marry him, but the two encounter some problems on their way to the alter.
