We all want to do some good sometimes and it can be hard to know where to start, generally speaking many of us lead selfish lives and we really ought to put something back into the community sometimes. There are so many opportunities for you to give up some of your time, your possessions or even some of your money in order to help those less fortunate than yourself. If you are looking to do a good turn or two then here are some of the best ways that you can support people who don’t have it as good as you.

Donations

Donations are a great way of helping others, the amount can be up to you but there are hundreds of organizations around the World who would benefit greatly from a cash donation so that they can better serve the people whom they dedicate their time to. You could give to charities who help feed the hungry, you could give to churches or religious organizations like those in Africa who are helping so many people in need, TB Joshua and his Synagogue of All Nations for example, rely heavily on the donations of kind people in order to run and there are many more like them in need of money.

Volunteering

Even if your not flush with cash, you can still do great things with your time by way of volunteering, charities and organizations everywhere are constantly on the lookout for people who are prepared to give up their time in service of others and they would welcome your assistance. You won’t have to travel far to do this, there are charity shops, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and hospitals all over the place that would welcome your help, all you need to do is to ask to help and more importantly ensure that you can consistently give time to the charity. The reason for the consistency is that even though you are volunteering, the charity or organization will need to plan when they will have people helping out.

Don’t Sell, Give

When you are finished with a particular item of clothing or product then, providing it is in good condition, you could look to give it to a charity to sell as opposed to selling it yourself. Very often we don’t even sell our old stuff, we leave it in the closet and there it stays until we decide to have a clear out. If you want to help out then you could dedicate a day to clearing the house out and gifting anything unwanted to charity.

Give the Gift of Charity

When the time comes to buy a birthday or a Christmas present, instead of heading to the shops and buying the latest gadget, you could do some good and buy a charity based present. You could either buy a gift from a charity shop as a present or alternatively there are lots of novel presents available from charities such as sponsoring an animal for a year or even buying things like grain and seeds for farmers in poorer communities. These are not only novel and interesting gifts but also will help you to do some good in the World at the same time.
